Streets Beach reopens following extensive maintenance works

After five months of extensive maintenance works and investigations into water loss, Streets Beach has reopened and is ready to welcome back swimmers.

The beach was closed in early March for planned maintenance and inspections. During this time, the closure was extended to allow for additional repairs including the relining of more than 250 metres of aged pipe and other essential infrastructure works. These detailed works were necessary due to the lagoon’s age and complexity and will help the facility continue to operate safely and efficiently into the future.

Streets Beach is more than 30 years old and remains one of Brisbane’s most iconic destinations, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. As the lagoon continues to age, further unscheduled maintenance works may be required at times, which could result in occasional closures.

Aquativity remains closed while it undergoes its own annual winter maintenance program, reopening in early September. Streets Beach and the Boat Pool are both open so visitors can still enjoy a swim in the meantime.
